Help and FAQs

Friendly answers for arranging more minutes with less admin.

Using Extra Minutes

Do I need FA approval to use Extra Minutes?

Extra Minutes helps teams connect directly, and teams should still follow their normal club, league, County FA, school, venue, safeguarding, insurance, and governing body rules.

What kind of matches is Extra Minutes for?

Extra Minutes is for informal friendlies, training games, and casual games where teams want to organise more playing time with less admin.

Is Extra Minutes available outside the UK?

Extra Minutes is currently focused on UK grassroots football. Teams should follow the local rules, safeguarding expectations, venue requirements, and governing body guidance that apply to them.

How long does a selected team have to confirm?

Selected teams usually have 3 hours to confirm when selected between 08:00 and 18:00 local time. If a team is selected before 08:00, the deadline is 11:00 the same day. If selected after 18:00, the deadline is 11:00 the next day.

Can we play teams from other leagues?

The product helps teams find and contact each other, but they still follow their normal rules about who they can play and when.

Is Extra Minutes an official league or competition?

No. Extra Minutes is focused on friendly and training game coordination. It does not run league tables, standings, or official competitions.

Does Extra Minutes organise or manage the match?

No. It provides tools to connect, check availability, express interest, confirm, and chat, but the teams manage the match directly.

Do you provide referees?

No. Teams arrange their own referees or officials where needed.

What about insurance and safeguarding?

Teams keep their normal responsibilities for safeguarding, supervision, permissions, insurance, first aid, venue checks, and match-day arrangements.

Access

How does access work for friendlies?

Friendly search, posting, interest, selection, and confirmation are covered when the relevant club or team has access to the friendly workflow.

Does confirmation cost extra?

Selection and confirmation are part of the friendly workflow for eligible clubs and teams.

What happens if a friendly is cancelled?

Status updates may be shown, teams may be notified, and there may be a short posting pause before opening another listing.

Workflow and privacy

What is an availability poll?

An availability poll is a quick way to check player availability. Poll links are public-by-link, so anyone with the link can respond.

Who should use Extra Minutes for youth teams?

Extra Minutes is intended for club owners, organisers, coaches, and authorised adults. It is not intended for children to create or manage their own accounts.

Who can see my club or team data?

Your data is used where needed to arrange friendlies, show listings, manage clubs, and connect teams. Role controls help determine what each person can manage.

Who can message us?

Friendly chat is for eligible teams involved in a confirmed friendly.

Do you store scores or results?

The product includes result-saving features, but those results are not used to run tables or standings.

Is club verification a guarantee?

No. Verification means supporting information was reviewed, not that friendlies are organised, supervised, sanctioned, insured, or guaranteed by Extra Minutes.
